Description: 252, [2] pp. Octavo [21 cm] Original, green cloth with yellow and blue ornamental designs and title on the front cover, and a faded gilt title on the spine. Deckled fore and bottom edges. With numerous black and white illustrations by Maxfield Parrish, including a frontispiece and illustrated title page. Good condition. There are a couple splits in the cloth along the joints, with the longer split measuring 3 inches long. There are multiple short splits in the cloth at the ends of the spine, and the underlying boards are exposed at the corners. The front endpaper is cracked along the hinge, the hinge is going, and the front free endpaper has a contemporary owner's name written in pen and pencil. Complete, all plates present. Before the age of 30, Maxfield Parrish had worked as an illustrator and poster designer for Harper's Weekly, Scribner's Magazine, Ladies' Home Journal and the National Weekly. Parrish took full advantage of the new technologies in color reproduction and established himself as the master of fantasy and romance. He quickly became one of the best designers in what has been referred to as the "golden age of illustration."

Description: Nice original antique 1900 first edition copy of The Golden Age illustrated by Maxfield Parrish. It is overall in very good condition with just some minor signs of wear and age. The covers only have some light wear. The binding is good and sound. The page edges are rough cut. The interior is lightly toned from age but is generally nice and clean, though there may be the very occasional page with a light bit of foxing or grubbiness. Along with that, there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a creased page corner, minor marginal chip or tear, light bit of soiling, minor interior crack, etc. Generally though, it's a nice copy. The book measures approximately 8 1/8 inches by 6 1/8 inches and is 224 pages long. It is illustrated by Maxfield Parrish with 18 black and white plates.

Description: 252, [2] pp. Octavo [20.5 cm] Red cloth with a gilt stamped title on the spine and front cover, and ornamental gilt stamped patterns on the front cover. Top edge gilt. Deckled fore and bottom edges. With eighteen full-page illustrations and an illustrated title page by Maxfield Parrish. The spine is rolled, and the boards are a bit concave. The spine and front board are faded (gilt still bright). There is a contemporary gift inscription on the front free endsheet. The top margins of a number of the pages are lightly damp stained (in a couple of instances bleeding into the edge of the illustrations). The text block is just starting to crack in a couple of places. Complete, all plates present. Before the age of 30, Maxfield Parrish had worked as an illustrator and poster designer for Harper's Weekly, Scribner's Magazine, Ladies' Home Journal and the National Weekly. Parrish took full advantage of the new technologies in color reproduction and established himself as the master of fantasy and romance. He quickly became one of the best designers in what has been referred to as the "golden age of illustration."
