Description: Octavo, 39 pages, quarter Fabriano Roma cloth, and boards; lacks the publisher's slipcase. Note: laid in is the Announcement postcard for this work addressed to renowned NYC bibliophile, Stuart B. Schimmel. Frasconi has been called the best woodcut artist of his generation. Aldus Manutius was the pre-eminent printer / publisher of his generation. De Vinne was a pre-eminent American printer at the end of the 19th century. William Targ had a rare book shop in Chicago in the 1930s, before he, like Aldus, became an eminence grise as an editor / publisher in Cleveland and New York City. This work has Frasconi's 5-color portrait frontispiece of Manutius, a quadruple-page woodcut of Venice in 1490, plus six other cuts. Copy 155 of only 250, signed by Frasconi and Leslie Miller for his Grenfell Press, where this was hand-printed.

Bound in brown paper covered boards with an off-white cloth spine. The cover is stamped in blind with the printers mark of Aldus showing a dolphin on a large anchor. Spine lettering gilt. .
