Head of spine has a 2 1/2cm long closed vertical tear effecting the word "THE" in the ti tle. Base of spine has a tiny fray. Rear cover has a tiny 1cm round wh ite paint splotch else covers are clean. Content is clean, tight & unm arked.

Description: Near Fine in a Good jacket, unclipped ($1.25 net on the spine), generally toned and soiled, scribble at the bottom-right corner of the front panel, multiple chips and tears at the edges. Grey cloth on the boards with gilt lettering and rules on the spine and front board. Firmly bound with a forward lean, gilt top edge, toned at the endpapers, clean otherwise. A collection of five previously published Henry James stories, printed here with minor revisions from their serial publications. This copy comes from the personal collection of Caldecott Medal-winning illustrator Maurice Sendak.
