Description: A handsome early edition of Thomas Hardy's play, The Famous Tragedy of the Queen of Cornwall. A one-act play by Thomas Hardy, one of the only two pieces of drama written by this author. This play was designed to be performed by amateurs rather than a large scale theatre production ('mummers.')Thomas Hardy is a very well renowned writer, mostly known for his novels, which are characterised by his realist style and perfect representations of the human condition. Openly critical of Victorian society, he often focused on the situation of those in the rural parts of Britain, in particular the South West.In the original publisher's green cloth binding with decorative gilt to front board and titles stamped in gilt to front board.
