Description: The Drowned World is an extraordinary story of the earth as it is some time in the future, after a great increase in the suns heat. The seas have risen, through the melting of the ice-caps, and the temperature has driven the remnant of humanity to areas like northern Greenland. So begins the dust jacket blurb of J. G. Ballards The Drowned World, which in the classic Ballardian manner gets more and more predictive every year. This is the first edition, published by Gollancz, London, in 1962. Near Fine, an excellent copy.
