Pages are tanned with minor scattered foxing.

Description: London: J. And R. Tonson, 1762. This is a Very Good copy of a Later Printing. Smooth calf binding, covers ruled in gilt. Spine is decorated and titled in gilt on two red labels. This volume contains five plays: "Don Sebastian, King of Portugal;" "Amphitryon: Or, The Two Sosia's;" "Cleamenes, The Spartan Heroe;" "King Arthur: Or, The British Worthy;" and "Love Triumphant: Or, Nature will prevail." Clean text; 479 pages; marbled endpapers. Each play has a lovely frontis engraving. Pages are lightly tanned, but unfoxed. Armorial bookplate on the front paste-down. Unfortunately, both covers have cracked. The front cover is holding, but the rear cover, although present, is detached. Please note the condition issue. Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy, in need of repair or restoration. Considering the quality of the textblock, Quercus considers this an excellent candidate for a quality rebind. Later Printing. Full-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.

Tonson in the Strand, London, 1762, frontispiece of Dryden, twenty-eight engraved plates with head and tail pieces, vignettes, 311, 465, 456, 466, 407, 477, pp, full original leather, 7 x 4.25”, 12mo. In good condition. Light wear to extremities with minor scuffing along edges and corners. Joints slightly tender with light cracking, all boards attached. Spine on Volume III is split, binding broken. All other bindings tight and intact. Spine desiccated with slight cracking and minor abrasions. Spine labels are all intact, numerical and titles. Slight chipping at spine ends with some loss. Internally good with light toning throughout. Light, scattered foxing scattered throughout each textblock. Green silk book markers all intact, albeit frayed at ends. All plates present. Free of known markings or ownership. Light scuffing to surface of leather overall. Please see photos.
