Description: First impression with publication date incorrectly printed as 1950. One inch by a half inch faded patch at the base of the spine where the jacket has been chipped and another narrow patch of fading at the top where there is also some fraying to the cloth next to the rear panel. Slight spine lean. Tight binding. Previous owner's name in ink on front free endpaper. Browning to page edges and endpapers. Jacket has one inch piece missing at the base of the spine and quite heavy chipping at the top of the spine and along the top of the rear panel next to the spine. There is also chipping to the corners and creasing and chipping along the top and bottom edges. The jacket is however largely complete with nice bright colouring on the front panel and a bit of discolouration to the white rear panel. So overall the book is near Very Good and the jacket is much nicer than the categorisation as 'Poor' might suggest. First printing.

The '1950' date is visible through the label.This is one of the American author's best known works, heavily inspired by Buddhism. In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. There is some wear to the extremities of the dust wrapper and some slight loss to the head and tail of the spine and some small creases and a few short closed tears. To the binding, there is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Near Fine

Description: First UK edition published by Andre Deutsch in 1959. (Originally published in the USA a year earlier by The Viking Press). This edition was originally published with the incorrect date of 1950 printed to the publication page. This was corrected by the publisher with a corrected sheet pasted over the original text. The exterior of the dust jacket has plastic adhesive film pasted to it, otherwise unclipped, some wear to the edges and minor closed tears. The jacket is now also in a very smart protective wrapper. Red covers with gilt lettering to the spine, tidy covers, slight forward lean, some minor spots to the top edge, front free endpaper with a previous bookplate partly removed, endpapers with some marks, the dedication page has an x impression from a pencil, pages bright, with a rare minor mark. Good condition.

Description: Hardcover, first UK edition, good condition in poor jacket. The jacket is clinging on to life with numerous large tears and creasing and is held loosley together with very yellowed taped repairs. Spine head secition is missing. The boards remain clean with only slightly bumped spine ends and corners. The page block is lightly tanned with minimal foxing but the text is free and clear throughout. DP
