Heavy tanning to board edges and spine, which has notable crushing and tearing to ends. Notable liquid stain to spine.

Description: Black cloth with gilt lettering on the spine, 445 pages, 5.5 X 8 inches. The book is a bit rubbed at the edges, cloth a little worn at the foot of the spine, spine lettering a bit dulled and rubbed , although quite legible, browning to page edges, spotting to first and final pages, owner's book plate affixed to front pastedown. A good copy, no dustwrapper.

Description: There is fading to the lettering on the spine and the book has a spine lean. The front and rear panels have a little surface discolouration and there is a heavy bump to the bottom right corner of the front panel. Page edges browned with scattered dark spotting. Light spotting to the endpapers with a few small stains to the rear free endpaper. Browning to the pages which are otherwise clean and unmarked. The jacket has a heavily browned spine which has chipping at the top and bottom with some loss. The front and rear panels are both a little discoloured and there is browning around the edges. The corners are chipped with small pieces missing from each one. First printing.

Description: First English edition. Signed by the author on the official bookplate which has been pasted under the front board. Supplied with a good facsimile dust jacket. The boards are a touch edge worn, but remain otherwise strong and sturdy. Internally, there is some foxing to the block of the book, but this does not extend into the text.
