Description: A handsome burgundy Limited Numbered First Edition signed by the author and with the origiinal acetate dustjacket in the original burgundy slipcase. Numbered 205 OF 500. Winner of the 1976 Nobel Prize for Literature, the National Book Award (three times) and the Pulitizer Prize for "Humboldt's Gift" in 1976, Saul Bellow is one of America's best-known writers. The book is in fine unread condition, solid, clean and bright with an attractive burgundy topstain. It is housed in the original acetate dustjacket that is complete with only minor rubbing. The original burgundy slipcase is solid and complete and is blindstamped with the author and title. There are a few spots on the back of the slipcase; otherwise fine. 312 pp. A nice edition.

Accused of betraying his city, as well as being a racist, he journeys to Bucharest, where his mother-in-law lies dying, only to find corruption rife in the Communist capital. Switching back and forth between the two cities, The Dean's December represents Bellow's "most spirited resistance to the forces of our time" (Malcolm Bradbury).
