In publisher's green cloth, lettered-decorated in red. A near fine example of the book with some very faint spotting along the foredge and a prior owner's signature. Dust jacket very good with chipping to the spine ends and the tips. There is a bit of paper loss, roughly the size of a postage stamp, to the upper forecorner of the jacket's front panel.

A Fine copy in deep orange cloth stamped in black, rich black topstain, in a Near Fine orange, grey white and black dustwrapper (with the photo of Hammett on the front panel), price-clipped, unfaded, with trace wear to spine-ends. (Price was torn out of the top edge of the front flap.) 270pp./272pp./267pp. Paginated from the original separate editions. A beautiful copy with vibrant rich colors, with a clean text and endpapers, appears unread. It's impossible to overestimate the importance of these novels to the whole noir tradition, literature and film. Q11212
