Black cloth boards in near fine condition, glossy with a couple of small surface flaws being light rubbing spots at top front edge and a small dimple on back board, light bumping to corners. Spine straight, binding tight, light end wear. Pages are lightly yellowed, clean and unmarked w/sharp corners throughout. DJ in only good condition, protected in mylar, moderate chipping at all hinges (top and bottom), color chipping along all hinges, 1/4" missing from both ends of spine. Limited to only 563 copies.

Description: First edition, hardcover, limited to 563 copies, has several penciled marks to table of contents, previous owner's note to top of rear pastedown, very slight bumps to spine ends and lower corners, touch of wear to upper corners, small stain to top edge of text block, and a couple small areas of rubbing, otherwise a solid VG+ copy in VG dustjacket which has light sunning and light crease to spine, slight edgewear with short closed tear to bottom edge of rear panel near spine, and slight bumps to spine ends and corners.

A little glue staining to the half-title page. Inscribed by CAS on the fly-leaf page, to his friend from childhood, Drew (Andrew Dewing) "From Clark," and dated the year of publication. Additionally signed in full, CLARK ASHTON SMITH, on the half-title. A fine copy in d.j., with just a little glue stain to fly-leaf page. No Clark Ashton Smith signatures are common, but this title is not often found signed. An unusually fine-very fine, copy.
