Book Club from Nov 9 to Mar 17 (presumably before 1813), 4to (21x26cm)

First Edition of this long poem from Hindue mythology. Provenance: This was the copy of Sir Michael Sadler, with his Oxford bookplate. Sadler (1861-1943) was an educational pioneer and art patron who, form 1923 on, was Master of University College, Oxford. Hardcover in original/period paper covered boards with original partially rubbed paper title label mounted to a very sympathetically rebacked spine. All edges untrimmed. Free end page/ half-title/ title . [i - vii] viii- ix; [1] - 376 pp. Page stock clean with only superficial toning/spotting in some margin areas. Some soiling in the uneven, untrimmed edges. Paper covered boards a bit bumped and just lightly rubbed at corners. Mounted to front pastedown is the Armorial book plate of the Countess of Bandon, [Catherine Henrietta Boyle].
