Description: First UK edition (Second issue US edition, with the plain black-lettered title-page and a different cloth binding). Hardcover. Fore-edge moderately foxed, otherwise very good in very good dustjacket (unclipped) slightly darkened on the spine and with a few tiny processionally closed tears. This is the scarce British imprint of the US edition (which had two issues, published without a date in 1945). This British edition has a publisher's label on the verso of the half-title page stating: This is a New Directions Book/distributed/throughout the British Empire/ from/7 Crown Passage, Pall Mall/London S.W.1. The US $ price on the front flap of the jacket has a small sticker with the British price (17'6) stuck over it. Bruccoli A20.1.

Description: First edition, one of four indistinguishable reprintings (1945-47), but this the uncommon British issue, with the pasted slip on verso of the half-title reading: "This is a New Directions Book distributed throughout the British Empire from 7 Crown Passage, Pall Mall, London, S.W.1," 8vo, pp. 347; hinges cracked, previous owner's name on front free endpaper, small red ink annotation on rear endpaper, otherwise very good in a slightly worn dust-jacket with several small marginal tears and creases. Bruccoli A20.1.d who apparently had not seen a copy.
