These are from the 1908 Great Teachers series (Vol. XXII and XXIII). This is a mostly complete 1908 run of the Philistine magazine (lacking the May and July issues). The Philistine ran from 1895-1915 and was largely a journal of satire, progressive political essays, and short literary works. Hubbard said the magazine was bound in butcher paper because "There is meat inside."

A socialist community founded by Hubbard to promote arts and crafts and to be self sufficient much on the model of Robert Owen's failed New Harmony Indiana. this is a near mint fine set of all 20 volumes unopened by all examination. crisp and fine.
