Description: Number 541 of 900 copies, this copy printed on antique laid paper. The set is ex library, with number on spines, labels on the endpapers and a blindstamp and small reference number on the limitation page, but no other marks or inscriptions.Slight wear to bindings particularly head of spine of volume 1, slight loss to paper labels but on the whole a very good tight and clean set.

I: xiv, 269, [1] pp. II: [6], 323, [1] pp. III: [6], 299, [1] pp. IV: [6], 281, [1] pp. Publisher's quarter brown buckram over tan paper-covered sides, page edges untrimmed. Publisher-stated antique paper. Original bookseller sales slip laid in -- The Davenant Bookshop, Turl St, Oxford, and dated 1924. Volume 1 with minor hinge break. Volume 2 with hinge break at front, remains structurally sound. Volume 3 with mild dampstaining to interior of rear board. Volume 4 with minor dampstaining to front pastedown and minor hinge break. Buckram is a darker color than other 3 volumes, though it does not appear to be a repair. Text blocks remain bright and clear all 4 volumes. Handsome set.
