He also wrote a collection of short biographies called 'Walton's Lives'.With contributions by Charles Cotton, a poet, who is best known for these contributions, and for his translations of the works of Michel de Montaigne. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots. Plate facing page xxxii is detaching. Very Good Indeed

Full light brown polished calf leather; gilt borders to boards with gilt inner dentelles; spine has five raised bands with four gilt tooled compartments; spine's dark purple title label with gilt lettered "The Complete Angler" but author's compartment missing its label with impression of "Walton & Cotton" still faintly discernable; date "1823" stamped in gilt at spine heel which was a practice of the Zaehnsdorf bindery but certainly not exclusive to that renowned firm. Binding is firm. B/w plates. Several pencil notes by a past bookseller on rear free endpaper recto; no other such markings readily apparent upon a quick perusal.
