Description: Spine faded and bumped to ends with minor fraying of cloth at top. Corners bumped. Front board clean with 2 minor lines of rippling near top corner. Rear board has some splash marks with discolouration at top near spine. Internally hinges intact with offsetting to end papers. Rear end paper stained at the place where the discolouration was on the rear board but it does not show up at all on the pages. Text pages all clean. 4pp adverts at rear. With small Bronte Book shop/ Keightly stamp at bottom of front pastedown.Previous owner's name written in ink with "Xmas 1920 from Dad&Mother" at the top of the front endpaper. Also a small plant stamp(matricaria chamomilla) has been glued to the center of the front endpaper. VG+ in woven dark red cloth stamped in black on the front boards and spine. With a touch of light wear to the spine ends and a little fraying along the bottom inch of the left-hand side of the spine. Overall, a handsome and scarce copy of one of Wodehouse's best. The wrapper has a repaired chip on the front panel and four small chips with a closed tear on the front panel This is a rarity. .Over time I have found 5 reprint wrappers .They are all identical except for the prices on the flaps. The first and second editions have a red frame on the back panel and 3-9 green . If you have a complete wrapper with the red frame Id love to hear from you .

Description: London red cloth .The book is fine no defect the wrapper has had minor restoration to spine ends,otherwise is probably very close to how it was when first published, with synopsis of malcolm sage on front flap and 3 bindles titles on rear flap. This is a reprint wrapper c1922.The first issue wrapper has a red border on the back panel and the only copy I am aware of is defective. .Over the years I have only seen 4 or 5 early reprints. Quite often collectors find a reprint and after checking with Macilvaine believe they have a first wrapper ,but not so .The bibliography is complicated The first and second printings have a red border 3-9 have a green border.The only way to establish the printing of the wrapper is to check the prices or non prices on the flaps I dont believe there is a complete first wrapper but Ive been wrong many times before Language: eng
