Description: First Edition (first printing). Small square 8vo. vii, 215pp. Red cloth lettered in gold at the spine and upper board and with a blind-stamped border. Corner tips gently rubbed, with a trace of toning to the free endpapers, and the binding a little tender at three gatherings. Careful erasure of several inked notations. A nice crisp copy. No dust wrapper.

The book is in very good condition with a small child's neatly handwritten (not joined-up) birthday greeting to the top of the free front page. Delightful book with little quotes and designs from the author and E. H. Shepherd all the way trough.

Description: (London: Methuen and Co Ltd 1930). First UK Edition. Publisher's red cloth with gilt vignette and lettering to front board and gilt lettering to the spine. A Christmas gift inscription (from 1930) to the front free end-paper and 19 dates neatly filled in by a former owner but pages really crisp and clean and with none of the usual foxing to the page block. Overall the book is bright and clean and in VG (or slightly better) condition. The D/W is priced 3/6 net to the spine (as called for). The D/W is in VG+ condition with a slither (about 3-4 mm) of loss at the head of the spine (not affecting any lettering) and with a clean back panel. A nicer copy than usually seen without the heavy wear to the D/W invariably encountered. Photographs/scans available upon request.
