Condition: very good minus (spine and cover edges sunned) with good-only dust jacket (fragile and tanned spine is reverse-repaired with yellow material which shows through the couple of chips; flap intact). Pages are bright and sharp.

Description: A decent copy of the first edition, first printing of a scarce book without dust jacket, the first of the Ideogramic Series, an Ars Poetica with foreword and notes by Ezra Pound. Very Good. Text is tight and clean. Appears unread or barely so. Lettering to front label is bright and unflaked, less so to spine label, which is lightly toned and still readable. Short closed split to spine crown, light sunning to front and rear board edges, a few tiny spots of scuffing to rear board. No marks or highlights in text. No previous owner's names. Not ex-lib. Edges of boards slightly worn, ow excellent, in original torn tape repaired dj. Despite dj flaws, a clean, presentable copy handsomely printed by the Kynoch Press, Great Britain ; The Ideogramic Series 1edited by Ezra Pound; Square 8vo; 52 pages. This is one of the Ideogramic Series which was edited by Ezra Pound. At the time of printing, the series had 3 volumes in it of which this is #1. Pound provided the foreword and notes for this edition, subtitled "An Ars Poetica". The notes which were finished by Pound from preliminary work by Fenollosa are commentaries on the ideograms themselves with paraphrased translations. Pound introduces his role in the finishing of the notes as being that of "a very ignorant man." The notes include 5 pages or plates of Chinese characters or ideograms.

Description: Green paper over boards, printed labels on upper board and spine; dust jacket; 8vo; pp. 52, with 5 plates. Volume I in the "Ideogramic Series," edited by Ezra Pound. Head of spine perished; edges of boards a bit tanned and rubbed. Dust jacket a bit tanned (moreso along spine) and dusty; chipped at spine tips; not price-clipped, and presents nicely in mylar. Two-thousand sets of sheets were printed in England by The Kynoch Press, of which an unspecified number were used for Arrow Editions. Several hundred were destroyed during the London blitz.
