Chaucer, Geoffrey. The Canterbury Tales of Chaucer, Modernis'd by Several Hands, Volume II [2]. Mr. Ogle, London, 1741.

Price: US$263.00 + shipping

Description: Hardcover. Volume 2 only. In need of repair. The front board, front fly, first blank, rear board, rear flyleaf, and rear blank are detached, but present. Attached with the text block are a second front blank, title page, contents page, pages 1 - 324, and a second rear blank. Marbled endpapers and page edges; the marbling has faded. The leather is quite rubbed, dry; and with wear at the edges. The gilt on the spine is faded, and with the title completely so. Rubbing, and some soil to the endpapers. Edgewear to the detached front blank. On the front pastedown is a bookplate of Francis M. Golightly. I would guess the bookplate is contemporary with the book, or perhaps slightly later? Some foxing throughout, but particularly to the detached blanks. ; 28B; 8" x 5"; 324 pages
