William Notman's photographs, include five views (Montmorenci Steps and Falls, Niagara Falls, Montreal Harbor, Ottawa's new parliament building) and five scenes and genre characters from paintings (three by "Krieghoff" and two others, possibly his; Cornelius Krieghoff, 1815-1872, was a Dutch-born Canadian genre painter, popular in his day and still appreciated for his record of the era). Appendices list mammals and birds.
