In the final years of his life, Kipling undertook a complete revision of his works. These definitive revised texts were published, with different arrangement of materials, as the Sussex edition in Britain and the Burwash edition in the US. Both sets were posthumously published, using sheets signed by Kipling before his death in 1936. 28 volumes, octavo. Attractively bound in recent burgundy half morocco, spines lettered in gilt with centre tools, raised bands, burgundy cloth sides with gilt vignettes, original endpapers with Kipling's monogram, top edges gilt, others untrimmed. Illustrated frontispieces. Original coated endpapers a little rubbed, the occasional minor blemish, an excellent set.

Front endpapers with printed bookplates of Harry Bishop Clapp (to each pastedown) and James Glen Mead (to each free endpaper). The latter have caused some mild rippling to the endleaves, else a fresh, fine set in the original printed dustwrappers, uniformly fine and free of darkening or wear. The authoritative edition of Kipling's works, rarely found in the original dustwrappers and almost unheard of in this condition, certainly the finest set to reach the market in the past twenty or more years.
