DJ has chipping & wear to corners, 3 1/4 inch by 3 3/34 inch triangle tear on upper rear panel from the center of the upper edge to the upper rear fold, irregular 1 by 1 inch chip at top of spine almost eliminating the word "life", small chip at upper front fold, small chips and one closed tear on upper front edge, 2 chips lower font edge, small hole on lower front fold, 1 1/4 inch tear on lower front fold, small closed tear on lower rear edge, light staining inside & outside the jacket in various places. Illustrated with 4 b & w photos. Shifree/Jackson A86b, 2,500 copies. Miller examines his favorite titles and authors. 3 appendices examine: the 100 books that influenced him most, books he still intends to read and friends who suppled him with books. It is always fun to read the writer's thoughts on their favorite books. Good read.

Some light foxing otherwise near fine in good to very good dust jacket slightly toned at spine and with shallow chipping to spine ends.

A presentation copy with a full-page inscription from Henry Miller (signed "Henry") to poet and translator Hugh [Chisholm], who is listed in Appendix III as one who supplied Miller with Books. A small dampstain at the lower left corner of the front free endpaper slightly affects one word of the inscription (not the signature).
