This delightful item was one of the earlier Ward Ritchie items which combined his love of book collecting collaborating with his friend Robert Ernest Cowan, the bibliographer of California History and was based upon a work that originally appeared in the Jan. 1887 issue of the Bookmart. Here Robert Ernest Cowan has made editions and was specially printed for members of the Zamorano Club. Although many of us knew him because of his close friendship of Lawrence Clark Powell, his memorial notes that he became a master printer and was responsible not only for authoring nearly 100 books but designing about 750. His concept was that the book should not imitate the style of others but should be designed based upon its content. A near fine copy bound in original wraps printed in red.
