Description: This limited edition copy is number 78/1003, signed by Alice Hubbard on the limited edition page. Bound in half moroccan leather and marbled paper boards with gilt tooling at the seams. Hubbed spine bears four raised bands and gilt lettering. Marbled endpapers match the cover. Illustrated throughout, printed and illumined by hand. Plates are protected by a tissue leaf. Frontispiece is a black and white portrait of the author, also protected by a tissue leaf. Olive green silk ribbon bookmark. Unpaginated. Protected by a mylar cover. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: "Alice Moore Hubbard (1861-1915) was a noted American feminist, writer, and with her husband, Elbert Hubbard was a leading figure in the Roycroft movement - a branch of the Arts and Crafts Movement in England." (Wikipedia). CONDITION: Some moderate external wear, particularly at the corners. Front hinge is cracked, yet still affixed. Rear hinge is starting, yet strong. Some light underlining in blue, yet pages are bright with very little foxing. Previous owner's stamp on the front flyleaf. Binding is sound. An absolutely lovely book, with beautiful craftsmanship. Full refund if not satisfied.

Signed/inscribed by author. He founded the Roycroft artisan community - an exponent of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Among his best known and most influential works is 'Little Journeys to the Homes of the Great.' His wife and he perished aboard Lucitania, when the ship was sunk by a German submarine in 1915. In his present work he elaborates on his ideas of business as a fine art. 3
