Description: Dark green hardback with a leather spine to which has been laid the original gilt lettered backstrip. Rubbed and darkened, nonetheless firm with strong joints. Contents sound and clean, just a slightly age toned. No pen-marks save an old former name to the upper corner of the front blank. Not from a library so no such stamps or labels. Size: 285mm x 205mm. Collation: pp. xi, 158 and 21 hand finished plates (heightened with Arabic gum) by Keulemans, a frontispiece, 22 other photogravure plates, and a coloured map. Thus a very good copy. Scarce.

Description: Signed Copy. 1st Limited edition of 300 copies of which this No.15. 4to, xxxviii + pp158 complete with 21 hand-coloured lithographed plates by J.G. Keulemans, 23 photogravure plates and colour map at rear. Half brown morocco over green cloth boards with 5 raised bands and gilt titles to spine in reasonable condition with front board half detached leaving the very top of text block coming away from spine however the binding still holding firm and tight. A little wear to top and front side of spine and some rubbing to edges. Inside a little intermittent foxing throughout with plates 1,4,5 and 12 being affected. All other pages and plates in very good clean condition. Warmly inscribed to flyleaf "To Colonel F. C. Trollope, Grenadier guards, from the author, in happy memories of former days and with all good wishes for the future. London, 9th July, 1910" A good copy of a very scarce signed copy.
