One short closed tear, a touch of use at the corners, otherwise truly spectacular. Forester's only mystery. The best copy we've seen in 20 years & perhaps the nicest copy available anywhere as this title usually turns up in poor shape because publisher Saunders' wartime production made use of rather cheap materials that had very little staying power.

True First & Only Edition. 8vo. 70pp. A very good or better bright example in the publisher's original pictorial paper-covered-boards printed in gray & navy & lettered in blue at the spine - a small chip at the upper spine joint repaired, inscribed on the ffe by the author; "To Lucy Cundiff / with best wishes from / C. S. Forester". Very handsome indeed in a very good dustwrapper [published slightly oversized & almost always found worn] with matching cover illustration, showing moderate use - two small chips, narrow loss at the spine crown & upper cover without loss of lettering, neatly mended closed tear, rubbing at the extremities. Forester's only mystery & very uncommon inscribed. A very nice copy of a book that usually turns up in poor shape because publisher Saunders' wartime production made use of rather cheap materials that had little staying power.
