Description: "first edition" on its copyright page, and publisher's original "$3.00" price on its jacket front flap. This shelf-worthy reading copy is in very good- condition, marred by wear and some light stains on its spine and along cover edges, some faint stains on edges of the text block, plus a label ghost and scrape mark on its rear paste-down. Its binding is sound and square, with no spine crease. Pages are unworn and otherwise unmarked. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is in very good condition: whole, bright, and unmarked, with wear on ends of spine and flap folds, plus soiling along back flap fold and top of back flap. Probably the most popular book by the "Grand Dame of Science-Fiction" (the Cleveland-born author assumed a male name to better sell her works), a sword and sorcery epic that was the uncredited source for the less than classic but mildly amusing 1982 film *The Beastmaster* with Marc Singer, Tanya Roberts, and Rip Torn, and the television series it spawned. Scarce in nice condition, uncommon signed, and very seldom found with both.
