Description: Hardback. White vellum and blue cloth. Interesting account of the Somme battle during the First World War. 96pp., Blue cloth with white vellum to spine , with gilt titling. Signed and limited edition of only 250. Signed and inscribed by John Masfield November 1936 "for Lucie gladys Nicoll" and with two lines of poetry in his hand " War is begot in darkness, done in mud, Its soul is falsehood & its harvest blood". The external boards are near fine and a protective cover held by tape has left some shading on the first two and last two pages. Overall very good and rare in this signed edition and enhanced by the author's additions
