F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Princeton University Library Chronicle, Volume XII, Number 4, Summer 1951 [includes: That Kind of Party]. Princeton University Press, Princeton, 1951.

Price: US$100.00 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: Pp. 167-227 + 3 plates; 8vo, original printed wrappers with yapped edges. This issue, largely devoted to F. Scott Fitzgerald '17, includes the first appearance in print of "That Kind of Party," one of a series of nine stories written around Basil Duke Lee and his friends. The Saturday Evening Post, which published the series, nonetheless rejected this story for print (apparently not believing that ten and eleven-year-old children played kissing games). Also included is Fitzgerald's unfinished story, "The Death of My Father" and checklists of the writings of both F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. With a frontispiece photo of Fitzgerald from a 1937 photograph by Carl Van Vechten. Index to Volume XII laid in. A near fine copy, with light wear and age-toning to wrapper edges.
