Description: A very good copy of this scarce big game-hunting classic. Complete with all 22 chromolithograph plates. Bound in the original green pictorial cloth stamped in gilt, black, red, white, and orange (some wear, particularly to spine tips and corners, small gouge to front cover, inner hinges starting; several of the glassine interleaves have chips). PROVENANCE: pictorial bookplate of Walter Rutherford Peterson Jr., Governor of New Hampshire, with big-game theme; also includes Peterson's penciled monogram on title page.

By James Inglis and printed in London by Sampson Low, Marston, and Company. 1892, 690 pp, 10 x 6.5”, 8vo, rebound hardcover cloth binding. In good, nicely rebound condition. Minor rubbing to boards. Hinges remain in good condition and text block remains nicely bound. Light staining to fore edge of pages (please reference last photograph). Filled with both full-page color plates and in-text black-and-white illustrations. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce and well-rebound volume by James Inglis (1845-1908), a Scottish-born Australian politician and explorer who spent numerous years in India.
