Description: pp. viii, 246.,12mo,Burrough's fifth Tarzan book, first published by A. C. McClurg in 1915. This is a later British reprint. First published by Methuen in April, 1918. Not specifically referred to in Zeuschner (443). See also Porges p. 788; Adkins p. 14. No illustrations in text, and the dust jacket art is considerably more garish than the N. C. Wyeth illustration for the first edition dust jacket of this title. The boards of the book are somewhat soiled and rubbed, and the binding is sl. sprung; else good condition. The dust jacket is torn, soiled, and chipped. Some conservation has been performed, with archival-quality clear tape and acetate, but it is still only in poor to fair condition. Very fanciful colour dust jacket by G. W. Goss. A title in the Methuen 'half-crown' novel series.

Photoplay edition with frontispiece from movie with James Pierce, Frederick Peters, Edna Murphy. Tarzan and the Golden Lion is a novel written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the ninth in his series of books about the title character Tarzan. It was first published as a seven part serial in Argosy All-Story Weekly beginning in December 1922; and then as a complete novel by A.C. McClurg & Co. on March 24, 1923. Light soiling to boards, no writing inside, appears unread. Very good in new FACSIMILE dust jacket, protected with an archival-quality mylar cover.

Occasional finger smudge or small stain throughout, previous owners neat name (and proclamation of “My best book”) in pencil to the ffep and free of any bookplates. Green cloth boards have some soiling to show. Black stamped titles to the front board and spine. Gently rubbed and bumped to extremities, more so to the head and tail. Spine and part of the front board are lightly sunned. Three small light black’ish stains and small droplets to the rear board. Without dustjacket. Beautiful black and white illustrations by the legendary Tarzan illustrator, J. Allen St. John, are present.
