Description: First trade edition. Tan hardcover, Good condition, dark red centaurs and brown lettering and decorations on cover, size 8 1/2 x 11 in., 245 pages; cover is only good with cracking to spine and splits to cloth towards the head of the spine, but interior with 14 color plates by Edmund Dulac is in clean, unmarked condition, plates are excellent and beautifully done. Endpapers have gray centaur illustrations, front endpaper is quite heavily foxed, Previos owners inscription to half title page. Plates are mounted by one edge on gray paper with frame in green around each. The actual illustrations measure 5 1/4 x 5 3/4 in. Both hinges have started to crack and move a bit, but book is tight, stitching showing in a couple of places. Binding has slight fraying and short tears at spine ends, corners bumped, cloth has bubbled slightly to rear board in an arc across the top. Overall a very good copy.

Description: #106 of 500 signed, numbered, limited first edition de luxe copies. Signed by Edmund Dulac at the limitation page. Beautifully illustrated by Dulac with fourteen full color tipped-in plates, including frontis. All plates present, bright and lovely with no wear. Half vellum over grey-papered boards, with gilt titles and decoration to spine. Vellum a little scuffed and age-soiled, titles overall sharp and bright, but the decoration at lower spine partially obscured. Scuffing and faint scratching to paper boards, and fraying to paper at edges. Ring stain and a few spots of dampstaining to front board. Binding sound. Top edges of texblock gilt. Deckled fore-edge. Note to P/O neatly inked to limitation page for Christmas 1919. Moderately foxed to flyleaf, limitation, and half title in front, and in the back from the last two pages of text through flyleaves preceding RFEP. Interior otherwise only very lightly spotted, with sparse foxing throughout, not affecting any of the plates. Two 2" spots of faint dampstaining to limitation page and half-title, and rarely, there is marginal dampstaining to lower fore-edge corners of some pages (<1/2"). Text otherwise unmarked.
