Description: 7 5/8 X 10 1/4 Inches. 303 PP. Stated "First Edition" on the copyright page. One of Grey's desireable books on fishing housed in original DJ. Original cloth a bit worn at edges, but very attractive overall. DJ worn at edges with a few short tears and several shallow chips. Price-clipped. A rare jacket in any condition. Personal check dated January 11, 1931 from Zane Grey to famed Swiss watchmaker Albert Wittnauer (Wittnauer is now owned by Bulova) laid-in. The size of check would indicate this might have been payment by Grey for instruments used on one of his boats as Wittnauer instruments were known to be used by the likes of Amelia Earhart for scientific and/or exploration expeditions.

He tells his stories of the tuna, sailfish, the wahoo and swordfish which would make any fisherman envious. Mr. Grey caught a 618 poind Silver Marlin, apparently a new species at the time and he tells of the fight of 1040 pound Striped Marlin and includes a photo of this incredibly huge fish along with 48 other photographs taken by the author. A fine bright opy bound in green coth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, pictorial endpapers, in unclipped pictorial dust jacket with wear along the top edges, a piece torn away at head and small tear slong bottom of front panel. Internally fresh without foxing, no names or plates.
