Bottom front corner has light fraying, other corners are good. Pages are tight. Last page has top corner torn. Back end paper has top corner missing.Front cover is cracked from end paper that has owner name and date.

Description: First edition, no jacket, 1899 on both title and copyright pages - maroon cloth, repeating text on page 108-109. Book has slight slant of spine, previous owner bookplate on inside front cover; previous owner name on endpaper; rub-mark from previous owner label on inside front cover. Few spots, rubbing, fading to the boards. Fragile front hinge with tear on endpaper at hinge, tear outer page edge, but holding - archival adhesive added to spine for reinforcement is very strong. There are occasional blemishes, spots on pages, mostly at edges, Overall, book is quite presentable in glassine sleeve. Very collectible.

First Edition, likely first binding in maroon cloth not olive green and no errata slip at p. 109. London: Doubleday & McClure Co. (1899), 358 pps. Very Good condition, with mildly faded spine and spotting and rubbing to boards. Top page edge shows dust discoloration and bottom edge has spotting. Front hinge gone and front pastedown torn.

Description: Burgundy cloth with blind stamped borders and decoration on front and rear panels, gilt stamped lettering on spine. First state with repeating lines on pp. 108-9 and missing text p. 112. The volume is lightly edge rubbed, sunned on the spine and top edge of the front panel, and there is light wrinkling on the spine crown. The interior is in excellent condition with light offsetting to the end papers. From the Larry McMurtry collection with his "Stirrup" bookplate on the front pastedown. Lacks errata slip.
