Description: London: Fisher, Son. & Co., [1836-38]. First editions. Vol.II: pp.45-76 only. 16 plates. Vol.III: 100[4]p. 45 plates and 2 maps. Lacking plate of Sidon. The engraved title-page to Vol.III is bound before the printed title-page of Vol.II, which is followed by the advertisement and list of plates for Vol.III, and then pp.45-76 of Vol.II. Vol.III then follows, less the two pages misbound at the start of the book. All plates have tissue guards. All edges gilt. Foxing and browning to some plates, varying from light to, in a few cases, substantial, and with water stains in three cases. Some offsetting. Rebound in modern brown half calf over grey cloth boards, with new endpapers. Five raised bands to spine, gilt decorations and lettering in compartments.

Description: Syria, Holy Land, Asia Minor, a series of views drawn from nature.131 engravings, numbered by hand. Green embossed chevron pattern boards with dark red morocco spine and corners with gilt tooling. Damage to all corners and wear on spine. Gilt raised bands to spine with Views in Syria in gilt. No indication that there are other volumes. Pages are gilt edged with endpapers in white with gold stars. Pages are foxed. There is a child's pencil scribble facing frontispiece. Otherwise a nice tight copy of this fascinating collection of views of the Middle East. Good
