Spine has a very slight forward lean and light bumping at the head and tail. Light accompanying rubbing at the head and tail of the spine and at the very tips of the outside corners. Couple very small facial abrasions. Light cream colored endpapers. Binding is tight. Light cream colored pages are all clean and crisp. 315 pages. No dust jacket. Description: An ex-lending library copy of the first edition of the 8th of Burroughs' John Carter of Mars novels. Comes with Grosset & Dunlap DJ that has been backed & glued to the front paste downs. The DJ illustration, frontispiece, and 2 of the 4 original interior illustrations are by J Allen St John. The other 2 illustrations (opposite pages 36 & 158) are missing. The DJ is heavily worn, creased & rubbed with the bottom 2/3 of the spine missing and the top 1/3 so rubbed that none of the lettering is legible. There is an oval blue ink stamp ("Raritan Lofts Fred Deblon New Brunswick, N.J.") on the FFEP and blank page before the RFEP. There are 13 apparent due dates stamped on the RFEP. The binding is tight and the interior relatively clean with occasional soil spots and a couple of top corner chips. A filler copy of a hard to find ERB, Inc 1st.
