Robert Louis Stevenson. POEMS BY ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON HITHERTO UNPUBLISHED With Introduction and Notes by George S. Hellman and William P. Trent. Privately printed for Mr. Francis S. Peabody, Chicago, MCMXXI. Bibliophile Society, 1921.

Price: US$165.00 + shipping

Condition: Fine

Description: Stevenson, Robert Louis. POEMS BY ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON HITHERTO UNPUBLISHED With Introduction and Notes by George S. Hellman and William P. Trent. Privately printed for Mr. Francis S. Peabody, Chicago, MCMXXI. Frontispiece portrait of Stevenson. First Printed Edition (so stated on the spine of the book), a special limited printing from the same type used in the arguably inadequate 1916 Bibliophile Society two-volume printing of this title. In short, the Bibliophile Society produced this more attractive presentation of the text of Stevenson's unpublished manuscripts in order to honor Frances S. Peabody who rescued the bulk of Stevenson's unpublished work which surfaced, overlooked by one and all, during the tumult of World War One. This "small complimentary edition" collects the complete text of the original Stevenson manuscripts that Peabody himself acquired and provides photographic reproductions of the manuscripts themselves. A Fine, bright copy in original publisher's boards and slipcase.
