Description: This is a UK first edition hardcover published by Rupert Hart Davis in 1963. The book is missing the jacket and is in Good condition overall straight spine, sharp but scuffed corners and bumped / frayed spine ends. The page edges are foxed and there is library stamps throughout the book - seemingly at random - but importantly the title page is free of any markings. The interior text is clean and binding tight, and the book has 253 pages. The copyright page confirms the first UK printing in 1963. Realistically this is a shelf filler - although if you can get a facsimile jacket that covers the wear to the boards (or even an original because there's one for sale on this site but not from me), you'll have an attractive copy that sits well on a shelf.

Description: First UK edition. Ex Library copy of some kind with some surface tearing along the bottom right corner of the rear pastedown where something has been removed and a black felt pen mark to the bottom edges of the pages near the spine - no other library markings however. Originally published in the US by Simon and Schuster in 1962. Boards have a little edge wear with a small bump to the bottom right corner of the front panel and a light dent to the fore edge of the rear panel. The edges of the pages are a little browned. Light browning to the endpapers and there is a half inch stain near the bottom of the page at the beginning of the first section and the facing page. There is another light stain to page 145 but the pages are otherwise generally clean and unmarked. No jacket. First printing.
