Description: the book is inscribed by the author thus : "with the author's compliments". unfortunately he did not sign it. there is also a previous owner's signature. there is a neat book plate under the front board from the Diocesan college library and a reference number on the spine. original binding is good. the boards are very worn and the spine has tears that have been repaired. there is foxing and age related marks. the map and all but one of the plates is present.(the plate facing page 99 is missing). although the overall condition is only fair it is very unusual to find this book inscribed by the author who died in 1931.
