Fred B. Rogers. Soldiers of the Overland, Being Some Account of the Services of General Patrick Edward Connor & His Volunteers in the Old West. Grabhorn Press; San Francisco, California, 1938.

Price: US$44.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: This 7.25 x 10.5 inch, 290 page hardcover book is the 1938 printing of this title by the Grabhorn Press of San Francisco. This copy is in very good condition with a bit of softening to the corners and a touch of fading to the edges of the paper covered boards. The paper label on the spine shows a bit of bubbling, probably from binder's adhesive, and a very small chip out of the top of the label and several white spots on the paper label itself. The label is still firmly affixed and fully readable. Beyond all that the covers are still in very good condition and the binding is firm. The interior of the book has the Grabhorn prospectus for the book laid in and the tissue guard at the frontispiece now loose but present. Beyond that the text block is in near fine condition if not better, with no damage or markings to the pages. The numerous maps and plates are all present, including the two folding maps at the back which are pristine. Patrick Connor played a pivotal role in the indian wars following the Civil War and this book gives a thorough account of Connor's role in that story of the final conquest of American Native people. As is expected this is a very handsome volume by the Grabhorn Press. 290 pages.
