Description: First UK edition, published as a paperback original (PBO), with a cover price of 10/6. The book was originally published in the USA as a PBO pamphlet by Four Seasons Foundation, San Francisco in 1965. ***Near fine in thin glossy card covers. Covers slightly marked and rubbed from age and handling, but without any serious creases, and no tears. The back cover is very lightly foxed in places, and there is some scuffing and loss to the surface where a price sticker has been removed, revealing the original cover price of 10/6 (please see scans). Internally also near fine with no inscriptions or annotations. Pages nice and clean. Spine tight. No dustwrapper, as issued. ***212mm x 138mm. 48 pages. ***'In the new way of things, the community is essential to the creative act; the solitary poet figure and the "name" author will become less and less relevant. Hence I prefer to be with my friends -- which is the creative context. We are on top of the live volcano of Suwa-no-se island, at sunrise, chanting mantras.' (Quote by Gary Snyder taken from the back cover) ***A very nice first UK edition of this classic work by Gary Snyder. Uncommon. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
