Slight browning to endpapers, otherwise bright, clean, very good+. Neat stamp on the front endpaper stating, 'file' copy and neat pencilled note on the front pastedown, 'file copy 6/- net March 8th 1911 (publication date)' with a clean perforated stamp on the title page, again stating 'file copy'.

Description: 5 1/8 inches x 7 5/8 in., half-title; frontispiece with tissue guard; title-page printed in red and black with winged horse design in olive green; list of illustrations; viii, [1]-302 pp., including index; with a total of twenty-five black and white photo-illustrations, and a Bartholomew map of Sorrento & Capri; a number of the illustrations reproduce photographic views of the area. Olive green cloth with titling gilt on the spine with a siren design, titling with designs on the front cover, top-edge gilt. The spine ends, cover corners, edges show light wear, small nick to the upper front cover edge, the spine shows tanning, with some glaze present, and a spot from a removed label; age-related tanning to the endpapers, and scattered tan spotting to tissue guard, the titles, prelims., page margins. In a dark green cloth-covered slipcase, with a matching, wraparound chemise, the inner surface of the chemise is lined with a marbled paper, and has a brown cloth pull; the slipcase is gilt-lettered on the spine: "Siren Land Douglas First Issue London 1911". Description: 8vo. 302 pp. 26 illustrations. Green cloth with front board illustrated and lettered in black, with gilt lettering to spine. Top edge gilt. Darkened endpapers, board tips very lightly rubbed, cloth rubbed in a couple of places, spine ends lightly bumped, with a small stain to the very foot of the spine. Binding is tight and square. Clean and tight copy.

Description: First edition, English issue. Small octavo. Frontispiece illustration and tissue guard. Olive pictorial cloth which is decorated in black on the front cover and stamped in gilt on the spine, with topedges gilt, and illustrated from drawings and black and white photographs and drawings. Some of the usual toning on the free endpapers but a very nice near fine copy, lacking the dust jacket. Of the 1500 copies printed, 200 were issued in New York by E. P. Dutton & Co., and 890 copies were inadvertently pulped by the publisher, leaving only 410 copies (including this one) to comprise the true first edition. A scarce Connolly *Modern Movement* title.
