Trollope (Anthony). Sir Harry Hotspur of Humblethwaite.. London: Hurst and Blackett, 1871. First edition., 1871.

Price: US$200.00 + shipping

Description: Original dark red cloth, decorative frame in black on front and back covers, spine designed and lettered in gilt. Dark green coated end papers. Undated 16-page catalogue at rear. Some fraying of cloth at the spine extremities, faded spot along front hinge, a bit loose in the binding, but in general this is a clean very good copy, quite attractive. Inner hinges are not cracked. This copy is of the variety described by Sadleir [36] as "Hurst and Blackett B", a presumed second issue with the imprint at the base of the spine in short capitals, and a variety of instances of broken type, dropped commas and whatnot. This book has a complex publishing history, with copies of the initial printing being sent to America to comprise the first American (Macmillan) edition. See Sadleir: Trollope A Bibliography (1964), pages 116-122. A difficult book to find in decent condition.
