Edward North Buxton (1840-1924) was known as a conservationist for his role in helping to save Epping and Hainault Forests for public use. He was also an alpine climber and served as LIberal MP for Walthamstow, 1885-86. He presented this copy of his book to William Lee-Warner (1846-1914, author and colonial civil servant and administrator in India until 1895, when he returned to serve in the India Office and later on the Council Of India.
