No price on dust jacket, hence this edition sold in Canada (identical to British edition).

There is mild pushing to the spine tips, with a faint line mark to the edge of the front and rear board which is most likely a small binding fault. The boards are very clean indeed. The books corners are sharp and without bumping. Internally, the pages are toned as is common with this title, free of any previous owner names or Inscriptions. The dust wrapper is in near very good condition. The wrapper is free of any tears or chips. There is a splash mark to the verso of the jacket at the base that just shows through to the front of the jacket. There is a little fading to the red lettering present to the spine, with a little creasing to the front and rear folds. The publisher's printed price of £8.95net is present to the front flap.

This novel was adapted as the last episode of the second season of the Sharpe television series, guest starring Alice Krige as La Marquesa, Nickolas Grace as Father Hacha and Matthew Scurfield as El Matarife.

Description: First edition first printing of a fine hardcover with the number 431097 stamped in green on the title page, in a near fine dustjacket with one small closed tear on the front cover at the bottom. Although not price clipped there is no price which makes this an international dustjacket. The 6th novel in the Richard Sharpe adventure series, a British soldier mainly fighting in the Napoleonic wars. These novels are not published chronologically so putting them in that order makes this the 16th novel. The basis for the 1993-97 ITV TV series "Sharpe" starring Sean Bean and the 2006 and 2008 ITV two-part adventures again starring Sean Bean.
