Limited edition, number 105 of 300 copies printed. Set in Monotype Baskerville and printed on paper hand made by Hodgkinson of Wells in Somerset. Illustrated throughout, with numerous photographs of Sir Alfred's work. Sir Alfred Gilbert was an English sculptor and Goldsmith. He experimented with metallurgical innovations and was an idiosyncratic participant in the New Sculpture movement of the late nineteenth century. This text begins with a biographical description and analysis of Sir Alfred Gilbert as a person, before moving into Bury's critical and personal view of Gilbert's work.
