Description: This edition first published in Macmillan's Illustrated Standard Novels series in 1896, this is a 1905 reprint. xvi, 342pp, with tissue-guarded frontispiece and 39 further full page drawings, all by Hugh Thomson. Half bound in leather over green cloth, gilt titles on spine. Top edge gilt, marbled endpapers. 12mo. Covers heavily rubbed at and joints, cracked along front spine joint, backstrip and titles heavily faded. Internally, one gutter cracked between prelims, making front board just a little loose; some light spotting and tanning, mostly on prelims but also occasionally in page margins throughout, else neat and clean. A lovely vintage edition, with Thomson's elegant illustrations.
