Description: First edition thus, hardcover, has a slight lean to the binding, bumps to the spine ends and cover corners, small spots and smudges to the edges of the text block, and faint stains at the head of the front and the tail of the spine. Overall, this is a solid, Near Very Good copy in an unclipped, Good only dust jacket, which is sunned, has chips as deep as 1" to the spine ends, edges and corners, a couple small scrapes to the spine, and faint spots of soiling to the covers. The jacket is wrapped in Mylar.

Description: Very good first edition book in very good dust jacket. One of 1500 copies. Gray-blue cloth covered boards with dark blue text on front panel and spine. Small amount of horizontal creasing at head and tail of board spine. Small bumps on upper fore-edge corners. Book is internally clean and text block is sound. Dust jacket is sunned overall, more so on spine, back panel and back fore-edge fold. Loss on upper edge of back panel, across head of spine and carrying over to upper edge of front panel of 4 1/4" by up to 5/8". Front panel has 7/8" closed vertical tear just to the right of front spine fold approx. half way down. Rubs and small chips at tail of jacket spine and several places along the upper and lower edges. Fore-edge corners are rubbed with loss of 1/8" or less. Several closed vertical tears of 1/4" or less along upper and lower edges on front and back panels. Fore-edge folds are creased and rubbed. Inside flaps corners are uniformly clipped. Price of $2.50 is intact. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition description. Ms Mayhew was a student in English 120 (Poetry), an extension course taught by Warren at the University of Minnesota. Her grade report (she got an A!) is taped to the front pastedown endpaper, adjacent to the inscription on the free endpaper. The book is in about very good condition: generally clean and tight; water stain limited to area at bottom of front cover; small ink stain near fore-edge of front free endpaper. The dust jacket has survived, but with extensive edgewear and relatively shallow chipping along the top edge; water staining at bottom of front panel; expected fading of green background. It looks much better now that it is in a Brodart polyester cover. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
