Description: Does not appear to be a first issue ("I must down to the seas again" on p 59). Publisher's cornflower blue cloth is quite sunned/discolored. Light soil. Minor edgewear and slightly bumped spine ends and corners. Spine sunned moreso, with slightly rubbed gilt title. Gilt topped text block. Cracked at ffep, with that page loosening. Smith, of the Boston banker Frank Brewer Bemis (1861-1935) who amassed a major collection of American and British literature.Loosely inserted is an original post-card sized watercolour by the author, and initialled by him, showing a three-master in full sail.Contemporary (1904) ownership signature (not Bemis's) on front free endpaper. Endpapers tanned. Very good indeed. In cloth chemise and slipcase of half teal morocco with raised bands and gilt rules, cloth sides.
